The Fayette County Board of Education met in regular session on Monday, April 19, 2004 in the boardroom of the Fayette County Board of Education.  The following actions were taken:

 

1.                  Approved agenda with changes

2.                  Invocation - Reverend Jim Ellison, Minister, Providence United Methodist Church

3.                  Pledge of Allegiance - Timmy Marty, 2nd Grade Student, Spring Hill Elementary School

4.                  Comptroller James Stephens reported that the monthly finances were in order

6.                  Appearance - Mr. Rick Lindsey, Fayette County Education Foundation, presentation of Mini-Grants for Teachers

7.                  Presentation of plaque from Georgia School Boards Association

a.                   Proposed projects for Tax Initiative - was tabled and will be discussed at the next workshop

c.                   Approved bid for media casework at Whitewater High School

d.                  Approved bid for large kitchen equipment for McIntosh High School

e.                   Approved bid for metal lockers for new gym at McIntosh High School

f.                    Approved to grant easement to county for McElroy Road property

Whitewater High School

Brick is being installed in the main entrance canopy. The metal panels for the high roof areas have been installed with the exception of the corner sections.  Science casework is being installed in the science labs.   The general casework has been installed in the English, math, social studies and foreign language classrooms.  Some casework has been installed in the vocational areas.  The acoustical ceiling tiles have been installed in the ceiling grid in approximately 30% of the general classrooms.  Floor tile has been installed in approximately 45% of the general classrooms.  The gymnasium roof deck, structure and HVAC ductwork has been painted.

Plumbing fixtures are being installed in the restrooms and in the casework.  Water, gas and electrical hook-ups are being made to the science casework.

McIntosh High School

The P.E. facility structural steel and 80% of the joists have been erected.  The majority of the P.E. lower level concrete slab has been poured.

Sandy Creek High School

The structural steel has been erected for the auditorium.  The concrete floor slab has been poured for the seating area and the lobby.  Several bays of concrete block walls have been constructed along the north, south and east sides of the auditorium.  The landscaping and parking staff parking lot are complete except for around the auditorium and staging areas.
