BOARD RECAP

 

The Fayette County Board of Education met in regular session on Monday, June 21, 2004 in the boardroom of the Fayette County Board of Education. The following actions were taken:

 

1.                  Approved agenda

2.                  Invocation – Reverend Frank Ellis, Pastor, Fayetteville First Baptist Church

3.                  Pledge of Allegiance

4.                  Comptroller James Stephens reported that the monthly finances were in order

5.                  Recognition: outstanding students, employees and retirees were recognized.

6.                  Personnel items were approved as presented

7.                  There was one comment from the public

8.                  Approved consent agenda

9.                  Items requiring action by the Board:

a.       Approved FY 2005 Budget

b.      Approved Murray Barnes, LLP for bond counsel with Tax Initiative

c.       Approved job description for Residency/Attendance Officer

10.              Superintendent’s Reports

a.       Revised Policies – will sit on the table for 30 days

1)      Screening for Gifted Eligibility (IDDD)

2)      Foreign Exchange Students (JQKA)

3)      Graduation Requirements (IHF(1) and IHF (2))

b.      Update on construction program

Whitewater High School

The floor tile is being installed in the corridors of the classroom area. The gymnasium wood flooring installation has begun.  Dressing up of the ball-fields and the site has begun.  The auditorium seating has been installed.  The ceiling in the canopies is being installed.  The ceiling in the auditorium lobby is being installed.  The plumbing fixtures are being set and connected.  The science lab electrical and plumbing connections are being made.

McIntosh High School

The metal pan stairs have been installed at the four corners of the gymnasium.  The majority of the lower level locker room, weight room and wrestling room concrete masonry walls have been constructed.  Concrete masonry walls on the second level locker area and the gymnasium perimeter walls.  The base sheet of roofing felt has been installed.  The contractor has begun demolition in the existing building.

Sandy Creek High School

The brick has been installed on the front face of the stage and the sloping sides.  Metal stud framing is being installed around the perimeter aisles.  The light-weight concrete has been poured on the roof deck. The plumbing pipe stacks are being installed in the restrooms.
