The Fayette County Board of Education met in regular session on Monday, April 18, 2005 in the boardroom of the Fayette County Board of Education.  The following actions were taken:

 

1.                  Approved agenda

2.                  Invocation – John Weber, Pastor, Christ Our Shepard Lutheran Church

3.                  Pledge of Allegiance – Crabapple Lane Elementary School students, Madeline Davis, 5th grade and Logan Austin, 4th grade

4.                  Presentations:

            Fayette Education Foundation Presentation

            School Nutrition Proclamation

            Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta

5.                  Recognition of students

6.                  Comptroller Lee Davis reported that the monthly finances were in order

7.                  Personnel items were approved as presented

8.                  There was one comment from the public

9.                  Approved consent agenda

10.              Items requiring action by the Board

a.       Approval of Lee Wright as delegate and Greg Powers as alternate for the 2005 GSBA Annual Meeting in Savannah

b.      Approved bids for new drivers education automobiles.  Awarded to Bellamy Strickland, $11,594.00 per car

c.       Approved rezoning of uninhabited land

d.      Approved bids for Fayette Middle School lockers – awarded to Ga. Institution & Furniture, $74,676

e.       Grade point reconfiguration – tabled until May board meeting

f.       Approved revised job descriptions for Consultant of Psychological Services and Coordinator of Psychological Services

11.              Superintendent’s Reports

a.       School calendar 2006-2007 – tabled for 30 days

b.      Fine arts textbook adoption – books will sit on the table for 30 days

c.       Technology infrastructure update

d.      Update on construction program

      McIntosh High School

                        Auditorium:  Approximately 90% of the concrete masonry unit walls have                          been constructed.  Electrical conduit, panels and plumbing line installation                      are on going.  Ductwork is being installed in the main auditorium area.                                     Fire protection piping is being installed.  The terraced steel floor framing                               is being installed.

                        New Middle School

                        The preliminary design has been submitted to the Department of                                         Education Facilities Services Section.  The architects, engineers                                                construction documents kick-off meeting with Fayette County Facilities                                  is scheduled Wednesday April 20, 2005.

 

                        Rising Starr Middle School Addition

                        The construction documents development is on going.  The 80%                                         document submittal has been made to the Department of Education                             Facilities Services Section.  The scheduled bid date is early June.

                        Peeples and Spring Hill Elementary School Addition

                        The construction documents development is on going.  The final submittal              to the Department of Education Facilities Services Section is schedule to                                  occur June 30, 2005. The scheduled bid date is September 13, 2005.
