BOARD RECAP

 

The Board of Education met in regular session on Monday, November 14, 2005 in the boardroom of the Fayette County Board of Education. The following actions were taken:

 

1.                  Approved agenda

2.                  Invocation – Royeese Stowe, Pastor, Inman United Methodist Church

3.                  Pledge of Allegiance – Jared Demeter – 3rd grade, Cayson Greene – 2nd grade, Carter Anderson – 2nd grade, Natalie Copeland – 3rd grade, Rebecca Powers – 5th grade, Sara Harp Minter Elementary School

4.                  Comptroller Lee Davis reported that the monthly finances are in order

5.                  Recognition of Aspiring Principals

6.                  Resolution for Retirees

7.                  Recognition of Fayette County Schools for Excellence in the Education of Students with Disabilities

8.                  Approved personnel as presented – Reanee Ellis, from Asst. Director of Human Resources to Director of Human Resources, Central Office, replaces Judy Byrd.

                  Lyn Wenzel – from Director of Curriculum to Assistant Superintendent of Education, LaFayette Educational Center, replaces Pam Riddle.

McIntosh High School

Kitchen Cafeteria: The dishwasher and pulper are in use by the school.  There are a couple of punch-list items to be taken care of. This substantially completes the kitchen.

Rising Starr Middle School Addition

The contractor has poured all the concrete slabs for each building addition.   The structural steel, bar joists and metal deck have been completed on the 600 wing addition. Electrical conduit is being installed overhead. Structural steel is being installed on the 700 and 800 wing additions.

New Middle School

The contractor has graded the building pad and currently is grading the sports fields. Storm drainage is being installed under the staff parking area. A temporary fence has been installed separating the construction site from Cleveland Elementary.

Peeples and Spring Hill Elementary School Addition

The pre-construction meeting will be held Friday, November 11, 2005.
