BOARD RECAP

 

The Board of Education met in regular session on Monday, January 23, 2006 in the boardroom of the Fayette County Board of Education. The following actions were taken:

 

1.                  Approved agenda

2.                  Invocation – John Hatcher – Outreach International Center

3.                  Pledge of Allegiance – Sandy Creek High School Color Guard

4.                  Proclamation for National School Counselors Week, February 6-10, 2006

5.                  Comptroller Lee Davis reported that the monthly finances are in order

a.       National Board Certification Recognition – 14 teachers receive recognition

b.      Title I Distinguished School Awards Recognition

c.       Heart-Safe School” Award

d.      Employees/students recognition

7.                  Approved personnel as presented

a.       Job description – Secretary II, to Assistant Director of Human Resources – tabled

b.      Classified staff positions from mid-term budget – approved

c.       Approved to surplus property – 99.06 acres located on Inman Road & Georgia Highway 92 South

d.      Approved new bus bids – Nalley Motor Trucks  for $1,267,416.90

a.       Revised job descriptions – will sit on the table for 30 days

Rising Starr Middle School Addition

The concrete masonry unit (CMU) walls are 90% complete in the 800 wing. The ductwork is being installed in the 600 and 700 wings. Electrical conduit and cable trays are being installed in all three wings.  The roofing system has been installed on all three wings.  The gas line piping has been installed from the gas meter location to each addition across the existing building roof.

Bennett’s Mill Middle School

The contractor has poured concrete footing for the gymnasium, Art & Band areas, including interior footings for the cafeteria.   The concrete walk between the two athletic fields has been poured.  The main sanitary sewer line has been installed down the length of the classroom wing.  The earthen slopes have been seeded and erosion stabilization matting has been installed.  The existing gas line has been lowered.  The curb and gutter is being poured for the main entrance to the staff parking lot.

Peeples Elementary School Addition

The contractor has poured the concrete interior and perimeter footings.

Spring Hill Elementary School Addition

The contractor has poured the concrete interior footings.

 

Flat Rock & Whitewater Middle School

The architect & engineer are working on the contract documents for the gymnasium air conditioning.

Booth Middle School

The architect & engineer are working on the contract documents for the gymnasium air conditioning and the kitchen modification.
