BOARD RECAP

 

The Board of Education met in regular session on Monday, February 13, 2006 in the boardroom of the Fayette County Board of Education. The following actions were taken:

4.                  Proclamation for National School Board Appreciation Week (March 13-17, 2006)

5.                  Monthly Financial Report – Comptroller Lee Davis stated that January and February reports would be presented at the March meeting. January report was delayed due to change in the board meeting schedule.

Bennett’s Mill Middle School

The concrete footings have been poured poured for the kitchen, cafeteria, administration area and the exterior wall of the back classroom wing.  Concrete block foundation walls have been constructed for the gym, art, band and chorus areas.  Below slab plumbing lines are being installed for the student restroom areas.  Below slab electrical conduit is being installed in the classroom areas.  The bus drive is being graded since the natural gas line has been lowered by the gas company.

                        Rising Starr Middle School Addition

The concrete block walls are 95% complete in the 800 wing.  Concrete block is approximately 75% complete in the 600 wing and 60% in the 700 wing. The ductwork is being installed in all three wings.  The fire protection piping is being installed in all three wings.  Electrical wiring is being pulled through the conduit in two wings.

                        Peeples Elementary School Addition

                        The contractor has poured the concrete building slab.

                        Spring Hill Elementary School Addition

The concrete block foundation wall has been constructed.  Gravel slab base has been spread.

 

                        Flat Rock & Whitewater Middle School

The final documents for the gymnasium air conditioning have been submitted to the State D.O.E. for approval.

                        Booth Middle School

The architect has submitted the documents to the State D.O.E. for approval of kitchen modification and air conditioning the gymnasium.  Facilities at the same time submitted renovation work to D.O.E. for approval: replacement of lockers, replacement of ceilings, installation of energy management, painting of interior, replacement of floor finishes, & installation of marker boards.

13.              Adjourned to executive session for discussion of real estate/personnel/student disciplinary tribunal appeal. The disciplinary tribunal appeal was upheld.
