BOARD RECAP

 

The Board of Education met in regular session on Monday, May 15, 2006 in the boardroom of the Fayette County Board of Education. The following actions were taken:

6.                  Comptroller Lee Davis reported that the monthly finances are in order

7.                  Approved personnel as presented including the reclassification of Randy Hudson, assistant principal at Fayetteville Intermediate, to principal of Spring Hill Elementary. He replaces Michael Howell who is retiring.

Bennett’s Mill Middle School

The concrete footings for the entire building have been poured. The concrete slabs for the kitchen, cafeteria, administration, media, gym, art, music, technology and one fourth of the classroom areas have been poured.  The structural steel has been erected in the kitchen, cafeteria, media, administration, art, music and technology areas. The concrete masonry unit walls are being constructed in the kitchen, cafeteria and administration areas.

Rising Starr Middle School Addition

The brick exterior wall on the 700 and 800 classroom addition is approximately 95% complete.The exterior brick wall has begun on the 600 classroom addition.  The lockers have been installed in all three classroom additions. The window frames have been installed in the three classroom additions. The glazing has been installed in the 700 and 800 classroom additions. The fire protection has been installed in all three classroom additions. The ceiling grid has been installed in all three classroom additions.

Peeples Elementary School Addition

The standing seam metal roof over the classroom area has been installed.  The exterior and interior concrete masonry unit walls are approximately 90% complete. The exterior brick has begun and is 95% complete to the window sill height. The mezzanine concrete slab has been poured.  The fire protection installation has begun. The HVAC ductwork is approximately 30% complete.

 

Spring Hill Elementary School Addition

The brick has been constructed in the main classroom addition (not on the connector).  The ductwork has been installed above the ceiling.  The mezzanine ships ladder has been installed. The pre-cast concrete window sills have been installed.  The interior concrete masonry units are being rubbed and prepared for block filler.

Flat Rock & Whitewater Middle School

The contractor is preparing shop drawing submittals.

Booth Middle School

The owner/contractor contracts have been received and are being reviewed for signatures. The contractor is preparing shop drawing submittals.

East Fayette Elementary School

The contractor is preparing shop drawing submittals.

McIntosh High School

The contractor is preparing shop drawing submittals.

Brooks Elementary School

The architects have developed some preliminary design drawings for the          addition. We have met with Brook’s zoning administrator.

Fayette Middle School

The architects have developed a preliminary design for the kitchen modification.  The preliminary design has been submitted to Mrs.Calhoun for her review.
