BOARD RECAP
The Board of Education met in regular session on Monday, September 18, 2006 in the boardroom of the Fayette County Board of Education. The following actions were taken:

All but two of the
roof-top HVAC and energy recovery units have been set on the roof. The metal
decking has been installed over the gymnasium.
Concrete masonry wall construction is on going in the classroom areas. The
exterior brick installation is ongoing in the classroom portion of the building
and it is approximately 85% complete. The
roofing has been installed over the classroom area of the building and the continuing
in the other areas. The sky-lites have been installed in all areas and are continuing
to be trimmed out. The roof drains have
been connected. The kitchen hood has been set in place. The mechanical
corridors have received the block filler and one coat of paint.
Brooks Elementary School
Final architectural/ engineering documents for an 8 classroom addition, air conditioning the gymnasium, replacing roof-top HVAC units and modifying a portion of the media center, have been approved by the Department of Education. The bid date is October 3, 2006.
The kitchen modification, gym HVAC and replacement of existing rooftop HVAC units were bid on September 12, 2006.
The architects are working on schematic design drawings for the kitchen modification.

Elementary School #1
The architects and construction manager Klaus Darnall are working on preliminary estimates for the new elementary school.
