The Board of Education met in regular session on Monday, December 18, 2006 in the boardroom of the Fayette County Board of Education. The following actions were taken:

Bennett’s Mill Middle School

Concrete masonry wall construction is continuing in the classroom areas and is approximately 95% complete.  Brick wall construction is

approximately 98% complete.The standing seam metal roofing is installed on the front face of the gym. The back portion will be completed when additional metal panels arrive from shipment.

The clerestory windows and glazing have been installed in the cafeteria and media center. Clerestory window frames are being installed in the gymnasium.

Fayette Middle School

The below slab plumbing has been completed.  The trench drains have been installed, for equipment under the kitchen exhaust hood.  The excess dirt has been removed from the entire existing kitchen area.  The existing electrical service in the demolished slab has been rerouted in permanent conduit.  The openings in the bearing wall from the kitchen to the former chorus room have been completed.

The gravel below the concrete slab is being placed and spread.  The kitchen equipment shop drawings have been received and are being reviewed by the architects/engineers.

Brooks Elementary School

The project re-bid December 14, 2006.

Oak Grove Elementary School

The architects and engineers are working on the construction documents.

New Elementary School # 1

The architects have submitted preliminary drawings to the Department of Education.  The architect and engineer kick-off meeting is scheduled December 19, 2006.
