BOARD RECAP

 

The Fayette County Board of Education met in regular session on Monday, February 12, 2007 in the boardroom of the Fayette County Board of Education. The following actions were taken:

3.                  Pledge of Allegiance – Hood Avenue Primary School recitation winners

                              Kevin Bell – Kindergarten

                              Olivia Bailey – 1st grade

4.                  Recognitions

a.       Student recognitions

b.      Georgia School Board Appreciation Week – March 12-16, 2007

5.                  Adjourned to executive session for discussion of personnel and student matter

6.                  Returned from executive session

7.                  There was no action taken

8.                  Comptroller Lee Davis reported that the monthly finances are in order

9.                  Approved personnel as presented

a.       Surplus of property – staff is looking at options for property

b.      Approved timeline of staffing at Bennett’s Mill Middle School

a.       Elementary and Middle School Mathematics Textbook Adoption – proposed textbooks will sit on the table for 30 days for public review

Bennett’s Mill Middle School

The trees in the landscaped islands are being planted. The kitchen equipment is being connected. The ceiling grid is being installed in the vocational areas. The VCT floor tile is being installed in the classrooms.  The lockers are being installed in the corridors. The marker boards and tack boards are being installed in the classrooms. The gymnasium has been painted. The light fixtures are being installed in the gymnasium.

Fayette Middle School

Approximately 95% of the concrete masonry walls have been constructed. The main HVAC duct trunk lines have been installed. The door frames have been installed. Electrical conduit and wiring installation is on-going.

Brooks Elementary School

The concrete footings for the addition have been poured. The concrete masonry foundation walls have been constructed. The below slab plumbing lines have been installed.

Oak Grove Elementary School

The project has been advertised and is scheduled to bid February 15, 2007.

New Elementary School #1

The architect and engineers are working on the construction documents.  The scheduled bid date is March 29, 2007.
