BOARD RECAP

 

The Fayette County Board of Education met in regular session on Monday, September 17, 2007 in the boardroom of the Fayette County Board of Education. The following actions were taken:

 

1.                  Approved agenda – after amending Item 13 from Personnel/Land Acquisition to Personnel/Student Matter

2.                  Invocation – Dr. Howard Dial, Pastor, Berachah Bible Church, Fayetteville

3.                  Pledge of Allegiance – Conner Dial – 4th grade, Tyrone Elementary

4.                  Employee recognition

5.                  Student recognition

6.                  Monthly Financial Report – Laura Brock, Comptroller, reported finances are in order – both July and August reports were presented

7.                  Approved personnel as presented – included was Lisa Howe, from teacher, Cleveland Elementary School to Assistant Principal, Fayetteville Intermediate School, replaces Joseph Salley

8.                  There were 2 comments from the public

9.                  Approved consent agenda

a.       Update on Construction Program

Oak Grove Elementary School

The concrete masonry walls have been constructed. The brick walls have been constructed. The roofing is 98% completed. The kitchen hood has been installed. The interior walls have been painted. The HVAC installation is 85% completed. The electrical wiring has been pulled through the conduit. The plumbing is 65% completed. The walk in freezer/cooler is to ship September 14, 2007 with installation to begin the following week.

Inman Elementary School

The concrete slab has been poured for Sectors “A”, “B”, “C-1”, “C-2” and “D.”  The footings have been poured and the concrete masonry unit foundation walls have been constructed for Sector “A.”  Door frames have been set in Sector “D.” Masonry walls are being constructed in sector “D.”  Door frames are being set in sectors “C-1 and “C-2.” Structural steel has been delivered to the site.

New Elementary School #2

The civil engineers are working on the topographic survey. The architects are working on the schematic design for submittal to the Department of Education.
