BOARD RECAP

 

The Board of Education met in regular session on Monday, October 15, 2007 in the boardroom of the Fayette County Board of Education. The following actions were taken:

 

1.                  Approved agenda

2.                  Invocation – Smith A. Atwater, Pastor, Unity Christian Church, Fayetteville

3.                  Pledge of Allegiance – Girl Scout Troop #276, Spring Hill Elementary

4.                  Title I Distinguished Schools Recognized – North Fayette Elementary, Robert J. Burch, Peachtree City Elementary, Fayette Middle, East Fayette Elementary, Fayetteville Intermediate, Hood Avenue Elementary, Oak Grove Elementary and Flat Rock Elementary

5.                  Duke University – 2007 District of Distinction Award

6.                  Fayette County School District Recognition

7.                  Students Recognition

8.                  Approved Resolution for Tax Deferred Plan Guidelines

9.                  Monthly Financial Report – report was delayed due to closing out final report to the state. November will include both the October and November financial reports.

14.              Superintendent’s Report

a.       Update on Construction Program

Oak Grove Elementary School

The quarry tile floor has been completed. The suspended ceiling grid and ceiling tile has been installed in the kitchen and the ancillary spaces. The walk-in cooler/freezer has been installed. The first shipment of kitchen equipment has arrived on site. 

Inman Elementary School

The structural steel is being erected in the classroom wings.  Approximately 85% of the structural steel has been erected in sector “D” and 20% in sector “C-1.”  The sector “D” corridor concrete masonry walls are approximately 90% constructed and the sector “C1” corridor concrete masonry walls are approximately 40% constructed.  The mason has started constructing the exterior concrete masonry walls in sector “D.” The plumber is installing the plumbing piping in the restrooms.

New Elementary School #2

The civil engineers are working the septic system design.  The architects have submitted the schematic design documents to the Department of Education and they have been approved.
