BOARD RECAP

 

The Board of Education met in regular session on Monday, November 12, 2007 in the McIntosh High School Auditorium at McIntosh High School.  The following actions were taken:

 

1.                  Approved agenda

2.                  Invocation - Mark Westmorland, Pastor 1st United Methodist Church, Fayetteville

3.                  Pledge of Allegiance – Brownie Troup #193, Cleveland Elementary School

4.                  Student Recognition – Duke University, TIP Outstanding Students

5.                  Employee Recognition – Completion of A.P.P.L.E. Program

6.                  American Education Week Resolution

7.                  GSBA Standards Recognition

8.                  Monthly Financial Report – September reports were presented.  The finances are in order.  October financial reports will be presented at the regular December meeting.

a.       Update on Construction Program

Oak Grove Elementary School

The kitchen equipment has been delivered to the site, set and connected.  The building inspection is to occur Friday, November 9, 2007.  The balloon test on the kitchen hood for the Fire Marshal is to occur Monday, November 12, 2007.  The contractor is working on his punch-list items prior to having the A/E team prepare their punch-list Monday, November 12, 2007.

The glazing is to be installed in the view panel of the doors and the kitchen manager’s office Friday, November 9, 2007.

Inman Elementary School

The structural steel has been erected in the classroom wings and the gymnasium (Sectors “C-1,” “C-2,” and “D”).  The mezzanine structural steel is being placed and welded to the corridor wall imbed plates. The classroom concrete masonry unit walls are being constructed in Sectors “C” and “D.”  The roofing membrane metal straps are being installed in Sector “D.”  All the building concrete slabs have been poured except the kitchen area.  The structural steel columns have been erected in the administration and media areas (Sector “A”.)

New Elementary School #2

The architect, engineers and owner kick-off meeting was held October 18, 2007 to begin the construction documents.  The architect/engineering team is working on the construction documents.
