| The Welcome Center officially opened for business in January 2007. Consistency, convenience and customer service are the key components that Fayette County Schools aims to bring to families registering students for school. The center reduces the time it takes to register students by gathering and verifying all the necessary paperwork in one central location. Although parents/guardian will still have to go to the individual school to complete the enrollment process, the enrollment time is reduced since all information is entered into a computerized database at the Welcome Center prior to parents/guardian arriving at the school. The benefits to having the Welcome Center are: one central location for enrolling multiple students at different school levels, consistent procedures for enrollment, accurate data entry for all new students, fewer residency issues, consistent customer service and less strain on schools during heavy enrollment periods. The center has a spacious waiting area with several enrollment stations and a children’s play area complete with games, books and other activities to entertain young visitors while their parents/guardian complete the enrollment process. |
