What is Youth
Apprenticeship? |
|
Youth Apprenticeship was initiated in Georgia to insure a well educated and
highly skilled workforce. It is designed to bring together the components
necessary for a successful career: education and experience.
Key Components:

School-based
learning
-
Work-based
learning
-
Connecting
activities
Using these components, students begin to prepare for a career while still
in high school.
Youth Apprenticeship:

Provides paid
work experience

Promotes
partnership between education and industry

academic and technical instruction

How does Youth
Apprenticeship work? |
|
Youth Apprenticeship provides an opportunity
for juniors and seniors to start preparing for a career while still in high
school. Individual programs of study in the freshman and sophomore years
prepare students for a successful apprenticeship.
Youth Apprenticeship consists
of:

A sequence of courses that develops each
student’s academic and occupational competencies

On-the-job learning guided by a skilled
work-based mentor
-
Skill development based on competency
standards developed by industry and labor

Youth Apprenticeship offers students school-based and work-based
