The purpose of this page
is to provide important information about The Fayette County Open Campus
High School Program (Open Campus).
Who
can attend?
Any 16-year-old
student who lives in Fayette County and has successfully completed 1
semester in a Fayette County High School is eligible to attend the Open
Campus. No out-of-county students are permitted to attend the Open Campus.
What
are the hours?
Monday–Thursday, 10am-8pm and Friday, 9am–4pm (for labs only)
What
do I need to do to register?
Acceptance to
the Open Campus Program is determined by meeting certain criteria. Contact
your high school guidance counselor for a recommendation. Parents and
students should contact their high school counselor to discuss attending the
Open Campus. All recommendation forms must be signed by the Principal
and a Counselor.
Signed paperwork from the student’s home school counselor must be received
by the Open Campus BEFORE any registration/transfer action will be taken.
Can I
still participate in my “home school’s” activities, i.e. sports, clubs,
dances, etc.?
Yes, but the
student must meet eligibility criteria.
Can I
take one class at the Open Campus to make up for a class I have failed, even
though I attend another county high school during the day?
Yes, 7th period
classes will be offered, Monday–Thursday, 4–8 pm.
Are
there any costs associated with attending the Open Campus Program?
If you are a
full-time Open Campus Student there is NO charge. If you are a 7th
period student, the cost is $350 per .5 course credit. Seventh period
students may only take 1 class at a time, unless approved by current day
school principal.
Once
I’ve completed all required work, can I graduate, if so, where does my
diploma come from?
All students
who complete requirements for graduation with the OC will receive a diploma
from their “home school.” The OC will host a December graduation exercise.
Those students graduating in May will go through graduation exercises at
their “home school.”
How
are the courses structured?
On-line and
individualized course materials.
What
is the attendance policy of the OC?
All students
are expected to come everyday, Monday – Thursday until course requirements
have been completed. |
