Students Build Winning Robot
March 6, 2007

Fayette students participating in the FIRST Vex Robotics Challenge learned it takes more than engineering skills to build a winning robot; it also takes important life skills such as planning, research, collaboration and teamwork.

Students from Starr’s Mill High and the Technology Club at McIntosh High were the first runners up in the final round of the Georgia FIRST Vex Robotics Challenge held at DeVry University. The event is a mid-level robotics competition for high school-aged students from throughout the state. Participants use the FIRST Robovation kit to design and build a robot to perform the tasks outlined in the challenge. Students must work as a team to strategize, construct and test their robot.

The goal of the challenge is help students discover the excitement and rewards of science, technology and engineering while building self-confidence, leadership and life skills.
