For the second time, the
Whitewater High Wildcat Marching Band has been named Grand Champions
(Gold Division) of the USSBA/Southern Star Marching Band Invitational.
The band placed first in
Class Competition, receiving superior ratings for percussion, drum
majors, auxiliaries and band. The were also were “Best in Class” for
outstanding music, visual and overall effect.
As if those awards were not
enough, the band went on to receive the “Best in Show” award and a
special award for having the highest attendance of spectators at the
show. The 2007 competition was held at South Gwinnett High on October
13.
The band is under the
direction of Doug Dee and Jack Jean. This marks the marching band’s
fourth year of competition.
