Big Words
Recitation Contest Guidelines

Every week, EFES students are learning a new "big word". The "big word for little people" will be one important focal point for the week on ETV - our morning news broadcast.  On Mondays, the students are introduced to the word, and on Wednesdays, students that can portray the word of the week are selected to be a part of the Eagle TV news!  What fun!

Ask your child to explain the following big words to you!...

gumption - being brave enough to say or do what is right.

plethora - many.

accumulate - to gather or collect something.

elated - extremely happy.

exquisite - beautifully made.

benevolent - kind hearted, good natured, generous.

assiduous - hardworking, attentive to detail.

entrepreneur -one who starts their own business.

centenarian - a person who is 100 years old.

magnanimous - giving, kind hearted, loving.

ludicrous - ridiculous or absurd.

Get the highlighter tool - (or just drag your mouse), and run it over the "hidden" definitions right beside the words after you have discussed the meaning of the words with your child!
