Spring Hill Elementary Quality School Improvement Plan
|
Part 3: Desired Results for Student Learning Narrative Description of the Process of Defining the Desired Results for Student Learning The Part 3 Committee (Desired Results for Student Learning) consisting of Spring Hill Elementary staff, parents, and administrators worked together to develop a shared vision for student learning that is stated in terms of desired results for student learning. The committee examined the school's beliefs and mission, reviewed local, district and state goals and objectives, researched findings and future trends that have implications for student learning, and analyzed our school's demographics. After examining the above information, we created a survey for parents and faculty (see next page for survey used). The purpose of the survey was to assess current student achievement and to prioritize the goals for improvement in student learning. A master homeroom roster was used to randomly survey one out of every five students' parents. The survey was also given to all faculty members and staff at Spring Hill Elementary. The return rate was 54%. Based on survey results, parents and Spring Hill staff indicated that Spring Hill student strengths are in the areas of: Imaginative Individuals, Collaborative Workers, and Productive Citizen. The highest priority for improvement by stakeholders was rated in the three goal areas of: Competent Learner, Effective Communicator, and Critical Thinker. The same three areas were also rated the lowest in terms of current
levels of achievement. A review of all survey averages indicated that
all results were rated between a high of 3.25 and a low of 2.62. There
is a consensus among stakeholders that our school establish competent
learning, effective communicating, and critical thinking as our focus
in the next five years. Survey Results Parent Survey Ranking Collaborative Worker Spring Hill Staff Ranking Imaginative Individual
