Attendance, Safety & Discipline

Georgia law requires that students attend a public or private school or home study program from their seventh through their sixteenth birthdays. Free public kindergarten is available in every Fayette County Public School. *All children enrolled for 20 calendar days or more in the public schools of this state prior to their seventh birthday shall become subject to the provisions of the compulsory school attendance law.

Pursuant to O.C.G.A 20-2-690-2- STUDENT ATTENDANCE PROTOCOL COMMITTEE: A committee established by the chief judge of the superior court of each county for the purpose of ensuring coordination and cooperation among officials, agencies and programs involved in compulsory attendance issues, to reduce the number of unexcused absences and tardies from school.
