Student Transfer Options

February timeframe for the following school year

The Voluntary Student transfer request is open from February 1 to February 28, 2025. 

NOTE: 

• A provision of the application is that the student(s) must live in Fayette County and be enrolled in a Fayette County school for the next school year.
• Students on residency affidavits or who have past residency issues with the school system will not be eligible for student transfers.
• Any student(s) not enrolled in Fayette County schools will not be considered for transfer.

June timeframe relative to HB-251 Georgia Choice law

Transfer Application Information

The application for requesting a school transfer through School Choice HB251 is open from June 1 to June 14, 2025. 

Please note that any student not enrolled in Fayette County Public Schools will not be considered for a transfer. Students must be enrolled before applying.

After the application closes, the Operations Department will review the applications and match them to the available class seats in our schools. Notification of approval or denial will be sent via email.

If there are more applicants than available seats at a particular school and grade level, a lottery will be conducted. This lottery, if needed, will be conducted on June 23, 2025. The results of the lottery will be emailed to applicable parents. General questions can usually be answered by reading our School Board Policy JBCCA.
