Oak Grove explores land of numbers

Three panels show kindergarten students working with numbers at desks against a classroom background, topped with colorful text and polka dots.

Oak Grove Elementary pathfinders charted patterns and conquered counting challenges as they explored the land of numbers.

Students in Iris Rodriguez’s kindergarten class created a number path around a shape by placing dots while practicing one-to-one counting and number recognition. Students also worked with number cards to connect the quantities they counted to written numerals.

“I hope students strengthened their understanding of one-to-one counting, number recognition, and connecting numbers to quantities,” said Rodriguez. “The hands-on activity also gave them an opportunity to practice counting carefully, recognizing numerals, and working cooperatively with their classmates.”
