Tiger Battalion joins JROTC Leadership Challenge

The Fayette County High Tiger Battalion showed up and showed out at the JROTC Leadership Challenge (JCLC).

Members of the FCHS JROTC attended camp alongside 13 other high schools from across the region with a total of 166 cadets participating. During the challenge, the cadets gained invaluable experience through a variety of rigorous activities, including land navigation and drown proofing, leader’s reaction and team development courses, obstacle course and rappel tower, and STEM activities at Columbus State University.

Toward the end of JCLC, instructors selected top cadets to represent their companies before a formal board to determine the best basic and advanced cadets at camp. Out of three companies, three FCHS cadets were chosen to compete, achieving phenomenal results.

Cadet Ryan White was selected as the top advanced cadet overall at JCLC. Cadet Jadelyn Wilson and Cadet Austin Fleming were selected as the best advanced cadets in their respective companies. Cadet Khaliyah Ruffin and Cadet Maleah Stephen were selected as the best female cadets in their respective companies. Cadet Thomas Morrow was selected as the best male cadet in his company. Cadet Tommy Wheeler and Cadet Austin Fleming were selected as the best male cadets in their respective platoons.

The squad is under the direction of First Sergeant Anthony Bell, Sr.
