The Fayette County Reading Invitational is a voluntary event for avid readers who read willingly and frequently. To assure that students complete the books at their grade level on their own, reading for the FCRI will be independent of the regular classroom. Teachers will not read these books to or with their students during the instructional day.
Each title, however, is a Reading Counts book, so students may read any or all of the titles to meet Reading Counts goals and to satisfy the 25-book reading campaign. Students may read these books during any free or self-selected reading time throughout the instructional day and teachers are encouraged to support students who have created literacy teams to prepare for this event. These books are also available at local public libraries and book stores.
