Kedron Elementary 5th graders put a tasty twist on their studies of decimals with Food Truck Day.
To wrap up the decimals unit and see how they relate to the real world, the Knights cooked up Food Truck Day. Grouped up, the students had to come up with a name, business plan, logo, menu, and prices for their own food truck business.
On the big day, they brought in real food to “sell” to their classmates. They set up their food trucks, decorated, and began to sell sell sell!
Students were able to estimate what they could buy with $10, then bought their items which had them subtracting from their starting amount. The students who were selling then had to make change, again practicing subtraction. At the end, each food truck added their numbers up with everything they sold to see who sold the most!
