Community service blooms with Bennett’s Mill GPS
The Bennett’s Mill Middle mentoring club Girls Preparing for Success (GPS) chipped in at Bloom Closet with a community service project.
For the trip, GPS helped sort and organize donations. Bloom Closet is a nonprofit that supports foster families around Georgia.
Girls Preparing for Success is a mentorship program for young ladies ages 11-14. The mission of GPS is enhancing the self-confidence of girls, promoting engagement in academics, cultivating more self-awareness, and planning for the future. The mentees gain positive role models who are dedicated to providing inspiration and opportunities to become future leaders.
“We hope the girls take away that being successful is not just about personal achievements but also about uplifting others through community service,” said teacher and club sponsor Dedra Carby. “We teach the girls in GPS that contributing to the community through voluntary work creates a positive impact that benefits everyone.”
