Preparing 8th Grade Families for the Transition to High School
8th grade students will register for their 9th grade high school classes in early March.
In order to prepare students and their families for this transition, Flat Rock and Sandy Creek are working together to provide all the information necessary for this process through meetings (2), guidance lessons, and a field trip.
Flat Rock is hosting a "Heading to High School" meeting in the FRMS cafeteria on Thursday 2/2 from 6:45-8pm. Students and families will hear from Sandy Creek's lead counselor, gifted coordinator, and IB coordinator. We will also have a presentation by the county's secondary math coordinator and our FRMS counselors. This meeting will be recorded for those unable to attend.
On Monday 2/6 from 6-8pm Sandy Creek is hosting their AP, IB & Pathway night for families. Students and families will be able to visit pathway classes (electives) and learn more about them.
On 2/27 8th grade students will participate in a SCHS Pathway field trip to hear from Sandy Creek students about the different pathways available to them.
