Tyler Hamilton is giving back on the way to being an Eagle Scout. Hamilton, a senior at Starr’s Mill High, built a Braiding Wall for Oak Grove Elementary art students for his Eagle Scout project.
In addition to being an interesting art installation featuring colorful, abstract designs, the wall helps kids develop their fine motor skills by braiding the faux hair. There was a wall previously, but it was removed during school renovation.
Hamilton’s mother is a parapro at the school, so it was a perfect fit. He even has a friend who remembered playing with the Braiding Wall when they were a student at Oak Grove.
He painted and assembled it at his home with the help of family and friends. The project is a culmination for Hamilton who has been a part of Scouts since he was in the 1st grade, and he has continued with troops in North Carolina, Alabama, Ohio and Georgia.
