Teamwork levels up reading at Cleveland
Teamwork makes reading fun for the Crocodiles. Two classes at Cleveland Elementary are working together as reading buddies to improve their skills.
Genna Rodriguez’s 3rd graders and Chelsea McCormick’s 2nd graders pair up to work on ReadyGen text. The 2nd graders read aloud, with the assistance of their partner, to aid in fluency. Then, the 3rd grader reads to model dictation. Once they have each read it, they work together to make connections and observations from the illustrations to the text.
Rodriguez is excited to see how much the partnership benefits all of the students.
“Through this activity, we are hoping 2nd grade students will gain confidence with their reading fluency and that 3rd grade students’ leadership qualities will be strengthened, along with their dictation abilities.”
