Robby the Bat touches down at Burch

A lesson on bats unexpectedly came to life at Robert J. Burch Elementary thanks to a winged visitor.

Vicki Smith, The Bat Lady, visited Burch again to share her expertise with 1st and 2nd graders. On the morning of Smith’s visit, the Bears realized they had another special visitor. A bat, a Tri-Color variety close to being on the endangered list, was hanging out on the brick in the outside lobby atrium.

Smith said it is probably a male who is migrating and just decided to stop at the school. The students dubbed their new friend “Robby the Burch Bat.”
