MHS Students Participate in the Lexus Eco Challenge

A group of six from McIntosh High School are competing in the Lexus Eco Challenge which is a national competition which focuses on the importance of the environment in the community by creating a product that improves society. The group of teens are currently sophomores as listed, Mark Adams, Mason Avidano, Raaga Bramhadevi, Priyam Kadakia, Kennedi Malone, and Riya Ratkalkar. They are attempting to develop an alternative to synthetic fertilizer which they would want to ultimately eliminate.

Currently synthetic fertilizers create problems such as algal blooms, groundwater contamination, and excessive nitrogen release. This is all due to runoff from agricultural lands which use synthetic fertilizer. Their healthier option for the environment includes a need to be biodegradable and organic which significantly reduces the problems listed above. The team is raising awareness by engaging in local activities and spreading knowledge of the gradually declining environment. They are making an effort to save the environment and are looking for local support.

If you would like to know more or have any further questions  please email them at or contact them through Instagram @mhsfertilizerfighters and Facebook @mcintoshfertilizerfighter. Please support and spread awareness. They will be taking on this challenge with the following in mind: “I don’t want to protect the environment, I want to create a world where the environment doesn’t need protecting.”
