Rising Starr repeats as volleyball champs
Rising Starr Middle reigns again as the county volleyball champion. With a straight-sets win over Whitewater (25-17, 25-7), the Panthers claimed the 8th grade volleyball county championship.
The champion Panthers are Alexa Cowan, Avery Cowan, Delanie Griffith, Noelle Huggins, Lily Langridge, Sara Kate Layton, Juana Ramirez, Valen Ramirez, Avery Rusk, Paige Schwartz, Claire Simmons, Anniston Underwood, and Grace Buck.
The team is coached by Nicole Comeau, along with Bob Didier. The team managers are Brooke Rathburn, Danielle Therriault, and Grady McSpadden.
“Volleyball is a vocal sport that requires a lot of communication. These girls loved creating their own cheers that kept the energy flowing on the court and into the stands,” said Comeau. “We were proud of the team's resilience and ability to adjust our lineup when two of our starting players got injured at the end of the season. The team picked up right where they were, playing smart and consistent as a group.”
This is the third-straight year the Panthers claimed the crown.
“Our team had fun playing together and developed beautiful chemistry on the court,” said Comeau. “It has been an absolute joy spending the afternoons coaching these girls. The 8th graders will be missed next season.”
