The Fayette County Education Foundation is dedicated to helping educators start the year on a high note. Continuing an annual tradition, the Education Foundation gave each new teacher a $25 Amazon gift card at the New Teacher Induction summit.
The new teachers were asked to support the Foundation’s mission in return by signing up for at least the Buck-A-Month Club, where one dollar a month is automatically deducted and donated to the Foundation. More than two dozen signed up on the spot.
The Foundation uses tax-deductible gifts to provide funds and opportunities above and beyond the normal operating budget of the school system, and 100 percent of donations are returned to classrooms.
The Fayette County Education Foundation has awarded well over $230,000 in teacher grants since 2002.
