Oak Grove Elementary 5th graders are making each other even better Braves with accountability groups.
An accountability group is a small team of students who meet regularly to support one another in achieving their goals. The groups create a safe space for students to share progress, reflect on their challenges, and collaborate on strategies to grow. They are a key element of the Leader in Me program, promoting leadership and personal accountability.
The groups are formed within the classroom, and all students are part of one. Each group is carefully organized, ensuring a mix of strengths and perspectives so students can learn from one another. They help students practice habits like “Begin with the End in Mind” by setting and working toward goals and “Think Win-Win” by encouraging and uplifting their peers.
“The goal is for students to develop essential life skills like communication, self-reflection, collaboration, and perseverance,” said teacher Natalie Whitson. “Ultimately, we want them to see that growth happens through consistent effort and mutual support.”
