Students medal on 2025 National Spanish Exam
Many county students were honored for their exemplary performance on the 2025 National Spanish Examinations.
The combined medal count earned by the students from Whitewater High, Starr’s Mill, and McIntosh includes 15 Premio de Oro (Gold, at or above the 95th percentile), 40 Premio de Plata (Silver, from the 85th-94th percentile), and 45 Premio de Bronce (Bronze, 75th-84th percentile).
Whitewater High students were awarded 36 medals total.
- Five won Oro (Gold): Maribelle Grandea, Jonathan Hunter, and Jacob Sims for AP; Osvaldo Rangel for Level 2; and Caoimhe Caskey for Level 3.
- Fourteen won Plata (Silver): Sophia Nguyen and Julian Rhinehardt for AP; Gabriel Escalon, Ally Martin, and Hanna Wages for Level 2; Fiyinfoluwa Abiodun-Findo, Kaydence Diner, Elsie Fanning, Aliyah Hayes, Ayaan Khan, Umu King, Miles Lewis, Ludovic Lythgoe, and Elizabeth Toth for Level 3.
- Seventeen won Bronce (Bronze): Anika Olson for AP; Morgan Baugh, Wesley Dixon, Zakiya Listenbee, Sadie Miller, and Adrianna Wright for Level 2; Emily Athey, Zakary Bates, Benjamin Bates, Abigail Crump, Liam Elder, Aubrey Jones, Liam Elder, Aubrey Jones, Chloe King, David Martin, Julianna Padilla, Jonathan Sweeney, and Kylan Warner for Level 3.
They also had 34 students receive an Honorific medal.
The Cats branched out with other students taking the National French Exam. Charlie Arena earned a Silver Medal for French 1.
Starr’s Mill High students were awarded 35 medals.
- Three won Oro (Gold): Matthew Baber and Valentín Guzmán for Level 2 and James Bender for Level 4.
- Fifteen won Plata (Silver): Christian Melo-Hernandez and Isabella Scott for Level 1; Dean Ettinger, Diego Gonzalez, Jackson Haycock, Elisabeth Hipps, Anhita Kande, Jagad Krishnan, Ethan Kwok, Sophia Olson, and Alexander Saunders for Level 2; Cason Cauble, Noah Haywood, and Alym Rawji for Level 3; and Abby McSpadden for AP.
- Seventeen won Bronce (Bronze): Gabriella Hungria, Aaron Jiang, and Jillian Moore for Level 1; Eliza Berkolli, Preksha Devarapalli, Michelle Huynh, Sarah Jivani, Chioma Kalu, Mallory McDonnell, Charley Moore, Parth Patel, Jonathan Schiffman, and Aiden Smith for Level 2; Anna Bruijn for Level 3; and Antonella Diaz, Stanley Dierkes, and Leo Vines for AP.
They also had 48 students receive an Honorific medal.
McIntosh High students were awarded 29 medals.
- Seven won Oro (Gold): Pato Landa, Isabella Mathews, Sophia Farinicci, and Juan Manuel Ramos Diaz for Level 5; Valeria Gamarra and Laura Bueno for Level 4; and Gabriela Amezquita for Level 3.
- Eleven won Plata (Silver): Vedita Sawhney, Sage Shah, and Ellison Shelton for Level 5; Fabrizio Zuniga, Jeronimo Polo Mercado, Isabella Jones, Sophia Madani, and Luke della Torre for Level 4; and Muriel Chan, Graham Johnston, and Nyla Kerr for Level 3.
- Eleven won Bronce (Bronze): Jose Garcia for Level 5; Matias Rodriguez Taylor, Lucy Sofia Ortiz Madariaga, and Marco Perez for Level 4; Anna Dyachenko, Gavin Watkins, Samantha Miller, Jonathan Morgan, Alejandro Lopez, Sebastian Quintero, and Omar Jimenez Gomez for Level 3.
