Rising Starr Students Make a Difference with Unique Children’s Book

Rising Starr Middle School students Jillian Moore and Gracie Collins are making headlines with their heartfelt contribution to the local community. The creative duo recently presented a $350 donation to the Fayette County Animal Shelter, funds raised through their innovative project—a children's book titled “The Adventures of Charlie and Joey.”

Written by Jillian and illustrated by Gracie, the book is the first installment in their upcoming series, “Peachtree City on a Leash.” It brings to life the adventures of their dogs, Charlie and Joey, in Peachtree City, with local celebrity Manny the Manatee driving them around in his golden golf cart. Manny the Manatee, a popular mailbox near McIntosh High School known for its festive decorations, features prominently in their tales.

To further support the animal shelter, Jillian and Gracie have also set up an Instagram account,@adventures_of_charlieandjoey, where they spotlight adoptable pets each week. They are offering printed copies of their book, ebooks, and fun stickers for sale, with all proceeds going to the Fayette County Animal Shelter.
