Whitewater Band ends season on high note
The Whitewater High School Marching Band has concluded an action-packed and highly successful competitive season.
This year’s show, themed Umbrella, captivated audiences with its creative choreography and dynamic musical selections, including Rihanna’s “Umbrella,” “You are my Sunshine,” “Raindrops Keep Falling on my Head,” and “Don’t Rain on My Parade” from the musical “Funny Girl,” and featured standout solo performances by Jack Walker, Makhaya Hicks, Owen Fye, and Gabe Miller.
The band competed in three major events, earning accolades and recognition at each. At the North Georgia Marching Band Championships, they claimed 1st place in several key captions, including color guard, drum major, percussion, and overall band to secure the top spot in their division.
Next, the Wildcat Band traveled to Johnson City, Tennessee, to participate in the prestigious Bands of America ETSU Regional competition. Their performance impressed judges, earning 1st place in 2A visual performance and advancing them to the finals round of competition—a significant achievement on the national stage.
To cap off their season, the band competed at the White Columns Invitational in Milton, where they dominated their division, taking 1st place in visual performance, music performance, and overall general effect. They also secured 1st place in their class and ended the night with the coveted Grand Championship trophy.
Directors Chad Reynolds and Alex Swindle praised the students for their dedication and passion, stating, “This season’s success is a testament to the hard work and talent of every member of the Wildcat Band. Their commitment to excellence has been truly inspiring.”
The Whitewater High Marching Band’s remarkable season highlights the talent, teamwork, and artistry of these young musicians and sets the stage for continued success in the future.
