On Friday, September 7, Sandy Creek AP Language and AP American History students had the privilege of meeting Pulitzer Prize-winning author Isabel Wilkerson. The students read her remarkable book The Warmth of Other Suns, a nonfiction work about the Great Migration, and their teachers Ms. Dorner and Ms. Douglas arranged for Ms. Wilkerson to visit Sandy Creek on the eighth anniversary of the book's publishing. Our students asked thoughtful questions about the people and events in the book, the research process, and the significance of the book in today's world. The students were also able to get their books signed. See the wonderful things Ms. Wilkerson had to say about her visit to Sandy Creek: https://www.facebook.com/140162739346559/posts/2266830863346392/.
