Record-breaking Season Leads Patriot Basketball Teams to the State Playoffs

As they approach the state playoffs, it's a good time to reflect on what brought the Sandy Creek boys basketball team to this point.

Head Coach, Jon-Michael Nickerson, reports that the team has four players averaging double figures in points per game: TJ Bickerstaff (20ppg), Julian Alexander (15ppg), Jabari Smith (13ppg), and Keith Williams III (11ppg). The team average is 79 points per game, which is the best in school history. The boys team has the best regular season record in school history at 22-3, and this is the first time the team has gone undefeated in region play. It's also the first time the boys have won the region tournament in back to back years.

Player TJ Bickerstaff was a first or second Team All-State member of the 4A class last year in all publications, and he could top that by being the 4A player of the year this season.

According to Coach Nickerson, "At the end of the regular season the top four ranked teams are all on the same side of the GHSA tournament bracket, so the road to the finals is going to be extremely tough."

State playoffs begin at home against the North Oconee Titans on Friday, February 15, at 6:00 (girls) and 7:30 (boys). Our girls team is also the number one seed in the state tournament. There will be more details to come on their amazing season!
