Knight hits hard for the Wildcats

Whether it’s on the links or the gridiron, power is Wilson Knight’s speciality. Knight, a junior, competes for the Whitewater High football and golf teams.

The strength of his game is his strength. In golf, he can drive the ball as far as most pros. In football, he blows the defensive line off the ball as a guard.

“My favorite part of golf is the feeling of hitting a shot just as I planned it, and my favorite part of football is hitting people,” said Knight.

Knight started playing golf when he was 3, but his love of the game was reignited when he came back to playing competitively his freshman year. The fall is tricky when he has to juggle practicing golf with the few days he is off from football.

After the season opener for the football team, he competed in a state sectional qualifier for the PGA Junior League. He helped his team win the event by shooting 9-under.

Head coach Chad Frazier calls Knight’s value to the football team immeasurable. In addition to his leadership traits, he starts on the offensive line, plays on all special teams, and is a pivotal backup on defense.

“Wilson Knight is the ideal teammate. Over the last three years, he has proven to be one of our most dependable players,” said Frazier. “He is a player of extremely high character, work ethic, and integrity.”
