Fayette scores improve on 2024 Georgia Milestones

Fayette County students continue to shine among the brightest on the 2024 Georgia Milestones Assessment. Fayette County Public Schools ranked top 2 in all three available subjects among comparably-sized districts on End of Course Assessments.

In all subject categories, the majority of Fayette County students scored at the “proficient or above” level, meaning they are considered on track to being college and career ready. The county’s already strong scores improved in every category from last year.

In American Literature & Composition, 84.6% of Fayette students scored a reading status of at grade level or above, compared to 65.8% statewide. Fayette students scored “proficient or above” at 65.8%, compared to 42% statewide. That ranks second highest in the state among districts with at least 700 test takers. Fayette tested nearly 1,700 students.

In Biology, 66.3% of Fayette students scored “proficient or above,” compared to 44.7% statewide. That ranks second highest in the state among districts with at least 800 test takers.

In US History, 62.4% of Fayette students scored “proficient or above,” compared to 38.7% statewide. That ranks best in the state among districts with at least 700 test takers.

Because math assessments were updated to align with the new K-12 Mathematics Standards first implemented during the 2023-24 school year, math Georgia Milestones scores will be available for release later this fall.

“I am proud of Georgia’s students and educators for their continued hard work which has led to consistent improvements in student performance over the last several years,” State School Superintendent Richard Woods said. “As a state, we have invested in academic recovery and the supports districts need to get all students on track for successful futures. There is certainly still work to be done, but I am confident we are on the right path.”
