Braelinn has a rootin’ tootin’ time on Cowboy Day
Braelinn Elementary turned into the Wild Wild West as the 5th grade celebrated Cowboy Day.
Cowboy Day is the culmination of the Turn of the Century studies in 5th grade. During the unit, students learn how cattle trails were established during the late 1800s. They ran throughout Texas, going north to meet the train stations as the northern and eastern parts of the US had much more profitable markets for cattle.
On the big day, students are immersed in what they learned, including eating “cowboy” food. They also play cowboy games like pony races, lassoing cows, fishing with twine and a hook, and horseshoes.
