Papel Picado punches up learning at Whitewater Middle
Whitewater Middle got hands-on during Hispanic Heritage Month, making their own Papel Picado.
Papel Picado, meaning “punched” or “perforated” paper, is a traditional cut paper folk art found throughout Mexico and the former colonies of Spain, as well as in the folk traditions of many other countries.
The after school activity was sponsored by the Whitewater Middle School Multicultural/Diversity Committee. In its inaugural year, the committee is committed to recognizing and celebrating the different cultures and customs within the school’s beautifully diverse community.
