Whitewater Middle studies Navajo arts

For Native American Heritage Month, students at Whitewater Middle got hands-on learning about Navajo art.

Students watched a video featuring two Navajo weavers explaining their craft and the meaning behind it. Afterwards, they explored the culture by creating their own woven blanket patterns inspired by traditional Navajo designs.

Through the activity, students learned about the symbolism and craftsmanship of Navajo textiles, and they gained a deeper appreciation for Indigenous cultural heritage.

The activity was sponsored by the Whitewater Middle Multicultural/Diversity Committee. In its inaugural year, this committee is committed to recognizing and celebrating the different cultures and customs of our beautifully diverse community.
