McIntosh wins 9th state cheer championship
The Chiefs are back on top. For the 9th time, McIntosh High won the GHSA State Cheerleading Championship.
The Chiefs claimed the crown on November 16 at the Macon Coliseum.
“Winning the state championship is always an amazing feeling knowing all of your hard work, time, dedication, and effort has paid off,” said coach Shannon Bednarowski. “It reinforces if you want something bad enough, are willing to put in the work, make the sacrifices, and not accept anything less than your best, you can accomplish your dreams.”
The year’s theme was “Walk,” meaning don’t just talk the talk but walk the walk.
“This team worked incredibly hard and held themselves personally accountable to get their jobs done and not earn the team any deductions. They performed their best routine of the year at state finals and every member of the team did what was necessary to execute a perfect routine and score the highest in the state,” said Bednarowski. “They represent McIntosh High School and the sport of competitive cheerleading well with their commitment to excellence.”
The champion Chiefs are Taylor Beck, Maggie Bowen, Addison Brubaker, Alicia Carrillo-Bueno, Sofia Cordoba, Maddie Craig, Blair Dollens, Willow Head, Ashley Henriott, Anna Johnson, Rylee Kent, Charlotte Malloy, Channing Patterson, Alexis Ricca, Zamanta Rios Madrid, Nicol Rodriguez, Brooke Tringale, Mackenzie Waldron, Anna Wheeler, and Saylor Ziegler.
They are coached by Shannon Bednarowski, Catie Callen Jones, and Sara Beck.
