Three Students Headed to National FCCLA Leadership Conference


Three members of the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) chapter at Starr’s Mill High earned top scores at the Georgia FCCLA Conference in March and are advancing to the national competition.Three Students Headed to National FCCLA Leadership Conference

Annslee Tokar, Teach and Train (senior category) event, and Abby Gayda and Olivia Herrmann, Digital Stories for Change (junior category) event, will compete with other top students from around the nation at the FCCLA National Leadership Conference taking place in Nashville July 2-6.

This marks the second time Tokar has qualified for the national conference in the same event. She competed last year, making history at Starr’s Mill High by earning the highest score (91.33 out of 100) that a national competitor has ever received at the school.

Tokar, Gayda and Herrman are the only students from Fayette County competing at the FCCLA national conference. Teacher Hope Via is the FCCLA coach.

FCCLA is a national student organization that helps young men and women become leaders and address important personal, family, work, and societal issues through family and consumer science education.
