School Nutrition Employee Week/Hero Day

Between preparing healthy food, adhering to strict nutrition standards, navigating student food allergies, and offering service with a smile, the Fayette County School System’s school nutrition professionals are true heroes.School Nutrition Employee Week/Hero Day

To recognize their hard work and commitment, the school system will celebrate School Nutrition Employee Week May 1-5, and then will end the week with recognition of the fifth annual School Lunch Hero Day on May 5. The week long celebration is an opportunity for parents, students, school staff, and the community to thank those who provide healthy meals to thousands of Fayette County students each day.

A total of 23 managers and 98 employees oversee the preparation of daily meals for students across 24 schools. So far this school year, Fayette’s school nutrition staffs have collectively served over 178,372 breakfasts and 969,640 lunches throughout the school system.

Fayette County Schools encourages the community to recognize the hardworking professionals in the school system’s cafeterias during week of May 1-5 because school nutrition employees are superheroes who make a difference for every student who comes through the cafeteria.

The School Nutrition Association has celebrated the week annually since 2013.
