DECA Students Earn Medals at International Competition


Two students at Whitewater High brought home one gold and four silver medals combined from the DECA International Career Development Conference. The international competition was held in Anaheim, California with over 19,000 students competing from around the world.DECA Students Earn Medals at International Competition

By the time Dymond Moore finished the competition, she had earned a total of four medals. Her medal count includes a gold for finishing in the top 10 for Apparel and Accessories Marketing, overall; a silver for finishing in the top 20 for Apparel and Accessories Marketing, overall; a silver for having one of the top 10 scores for the Apparel and Accessories Marketing Role Play, and a silver for having one of the top 10 scores on the Apparel and Accessories Marketing Exam.

Additionally, Megan Brubaker earned a silver medal for having one of the top 10 scores on the Professional Selling Exam.

Both Dymond and Megan are among six students from Georgia who finished in the top 10 in exams. Dymond is one of 19 students from Georgia who is a top 10 finalist, and is one of 50 who is a top 20 finalist. Georgia had 770 students and advisors at the conference.

DECA’s industry-validated competitive events are aligned with the National Curriculum Standards in the career clusters of marketing, business management and administration, finance, and hospitality and tourism. DECA’s flagship evaluation process involves students in both a written component such as an exam or report, and an interactive component with an industry professional serving as a judge.
