Graphic Arts Program Earns National Accreditation

The graphic arts program at McIntosh High has been awarded national PrintED accreditation for meeting industry standards appropriate for secondary schools offering graphic communications curricula.Graphic Arts Program Earns National Accreditation

Accreditation was awarded to the school in the areas of Introduction to Graphic Communications and Graphic Design. McIntosh is among 25 high schools in Georgia to have earned PrintEd accreditation, and one of 117 in the nation.

PrintED accreditation is recognized by the graphic communications industry, providing students with a career pathway to enter the workforce with verifiable credentials, and giving assurance to employers that graduates from PrintEd accredited programs have the knowledge and training needed to be successful in the graphic communications field.

Teacher Lauren Schell-Bozone started the accreditation process a year ago. After completing the application for accreditation, a mentor maintains monthly contact with the teacher and visits the school on two separate occasions. A team comprised of industry professionals conducts the final evaluation to determine if the program has met accreditation requirements.

Accreditation is awarded for five years, with an annual status report due at the end of each school year.
